Perhaps you have had some extra time lately to de-clutter your home, and are wondering about donating to the Museum.
If you have an object to donate to the Museum, please help us ensure the safety of our staff and volunteers by following these guidelines:
- Do not bring objects to the museum if you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms
- Do not donate objects from locations where there is a risk of COVID-19
Our team will not handle newly-donated objects for at least one week after they have been donated. Once in the Museum, object(s) will be placed in a designated holding area. Please contact us at 250-642-6351 or musasst@sookeregionmuseum.com to make donation arrangements.
A reminder that we are only taking donations that have significance to the Sooke region, with some exceptions made for particularly unique or well-preserved objects.
Aside from donations, our staff are excited to welcome you back into the Museum and Visitor Centre. Our reduced hours of operation are 9:30-5pm, Monday through Saturday.
We will be wearing personal protective equipment when social distancing is not possible or when we are not behind the physical barriers we have placed throughout the building.
Our outdoor exhibits and indoor permanent display loop are open for your enjoyment. To help ensure everyone enjoys their visit safely, we ask that you delay your visit to the museum if you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms. We will have masks and hand sanitizer available. When going through the museum, please follow directional arrows and signage, and maintain social distance. The maximum number of people allowed in the museum at this time is 12.
When weather permits, we will open the front door, so you can move through the entire Museum without touching door handles. We are cleaning frequently-touched surfaces at least twice a day.
Some areas may be closed to maintain social distancing, such as our upstairs gallery space. Due to this, our planned summer exhibit on the history of the arts will not be presented this year. Moss Cottage and the Triangle Island Lighthouse will not be open for tours at this time.
Our online photograph collection can now be viewed at www.sookeregionmuseum.com.
We are excited to see old friends again, and meet new ones.
