Communications & Outreach Coordinator

The Sooke Region Museum & Visitor Centre is seeking support for communications, community outreach, and projects during our 50th year to build awareness of the Museum and grow our audience.
This is a term contract, with possibility for extension.
Call for T’Sou-ke Artist
for wetland exhibit
October 2026
The Sooke Region Museum & Visitor Centre is seeking a T’Sou-ke artist to augment a wetland exhibit in development. We are working with a designer to fabricate interpretive panels and content is currently in development. We would like to engage a T’Sou-ke artist to create line drawings that will feature prominently on the panels. Pre-existing art within the wetland them is acceptable. We are hoping to have designs finalized by November 2026 for Phase 1.

Call for Indigenous Artists
for museum entrance
deadline: 30 November 2026
The Sooke Region Museum & Visitor Centre is seeking Indigenous artists to create art for the entrance to the museum and refreshed interior exhibits. Artwork created by Indigenous artist(s) from the local communities of T’Sou-ke, SC’IȺNEW̱, and Pacheedaht located at the Museum entrance will provide the visual expression and connection to this place where the T’Sou-ke people have lived since time immemorial and the broader Sooke Region served by the Museum, as the land of SC’IȺNEW̱ and Pacheedaht peoples.
The work(s) of art will build awareness of the different artistic styles and cultural traditions of the Coast Salish (T’Sou-ke and SC’IȺNEW̱) and Nuu-chah-nulth (Pacheedaht) and how these Nations and people have distinct cultural traditions and artistic styles. Call for Instructors
Workshops
The Sooke Region Museum & Visitor Centre is seeking individuals or groups to offer workshops at the museum to pass on skills, techniques, knowledge to community members. Workshops should be inspired by local cultural and/or natural heritage or history
If you are interested in proposing a workshop and/or a series of workshops, please include the following:
– description and proposed title
– images to give an idea of what participants will do/create/learn
– information about the instructor(s)
– materials and/or equipment required
– participants: workshop capacity, age, skills/experience
– time: workshop duration, number of sessions. Note: we prefer weekend or evening workshops for maximum accessibility.
– cost: instructor fees, materials/supplies cost
– facility requirements (water, access to outside, tables, etc.)
