Your Ideas Belong in a Museum

The Sooke Region Historical Society invites the community to play an active role in shaping the future of the Sooke Region Museum & Visitor Centre. “As the museum approaches its 50th anniversary in 2027, we’re looking for input from residents and visitors from East Sooke to Port Renfrew to reflect the needs, values, and stories of the region and create a shared vision for the future,” said Doni Eve, Society president.

What do we want to learn?

  • What interests you about the Museum.
  • How you feel the Museum might respond to the needs of the communities it serves.
  • Your ideas for potential partnerships, programs, or services.
  • Your Insights into how we can foster a stronger sense of connection, belonging, and pride in the Museum and the stories it shares.

Community Survey – closed 31 August 2025

From March through August 2025, residents were invited to respond to a community-wide survey on the museum’s current offerings and provide new ideas, participate in community conversations, focus groups, one-on-one meetings, and connect with our team at community events during the spring and summer of 2025.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our survey and engagement activities. We are carefully considering all that we heard to inform:

  • how to best serve the Sooke region today and in the years ahead.
  • ideas for programs, partnerships, and services that reflect community priorities.
  • ways to strengthen a sense of belonging, connection, and pride in the museum and the stories it shares.
