FLOWLINE

The Sooke Flowline was a 44-kilometre concrete pipeline that brought water to Greater Victoria and Sooke. The path of the Flowline snaked through the Sooke Hills from Sooke Lake to Humpback Reservoir. Between 1911 and 1915, over 400 workers built and installed 36,000 concrete sections for the Flowline. The Greater Victoria branch of the Flowline was decommissioned in the 1970s, while the Sooke branch continued until 2009. Most Flowline pieces remain in the Sooke Hills. The Museum requested that the Capital Regional District Water Services transport pieces of the Flowline to the Museum property. The request was granted, and the Flowline pieces were delivered in 2010.
