Welcome to the Sooke Men’s Shed!

Are you an older man looking to do some hands-on wood working, mechanical repairs and tinkering in a congenial setting?

Based on the Australian movement, this organization is designed to help deal with social isolation. The intention of the organization is not to be exclusionary, but rather to meet a need of a specific group of people. While not directly a ‘health’ program, Men’s Sheds have been shown to help deal with social isolation and thus help improve the quality of life. The idea is that “men don’t talk face to face, they talk shoulder to shoulder”.
The Men’s Shed provides a space for men to have a workshop environment where they can do hands on projects for themselves and the community in a collaborative atmosphere.
The Shed is hosted by the Sooke Region Museum.
An information meeting will be held in the Workshop at the Museum on Saturday 22 February 2025 at 10am.
Mike Jennings, President of the BC Men’s Shed Association, will present an overview of the Men’s Shed movement and talk about his experience at the Port Moody Men’s Shed.
Museum staff will then share the plans for how the Sooke Men’s Shed will function.
The Men’s Shed launch is part of Heritage Week activities at the Sooke Region Museum.  Event details here.
