Virtual Family Day Weekend Activities at the Sooke Region Museum
The Sooke Region Museum has four special virtual activities for the Family Day Weekend!
Friday Feb 12th
2pm Book Reading by Author Cheryl Alexander from her book Takaya Lone Wolf
The story of the lone wolf Taykaya who lived on Discovery and Chatham Island within a few hundred metres of the bustling city of Victoria, BC has become well know. Cheryl Alexander filmed this story over many years and has now written a book. She will be reading from her book and answering questions online.

7pm Online Trivia Game with a focus on family history of the Sooke Region. This game can be done through your phone or your computer. Questions will use both photo’s and text to challenge and share knowledge with participants about the rich human and natural history of the region with a focus on ‘family’ related themes. Prizes will be awarded to the top three!

Saturday Feb 13th
2pm Moss Cottage Virtual tour with “Aunt Tilly”.
The oldest building west of Victoria, Moss Cottage was home to Matilda Gordon and her children in the early 1900’s. This single mother will tour you through the cottage and talk about the daily life of her family at this time. After the tour, we will be available online to answer questions about this fascinating piece of Sookeheritage.

7:00 PM Love Songs and Stories of Sooke People and Places.
Best known for her Cougar Annie Tails musical, Sooke singer songwriter Katrina Kadoski will live streamoriginal songs written in and about Sooke and the Westcoast of Vancouver Island. She will be available to answer questions about the songs in an interactive forum.

The Sooke Region Museum is open Tuesdays to Saturday from 9:30am to 5pm free of charge. We will be closed on Tuesday Feb 16th . Masks and Social Distancing are required.
